3. ASME B16.9 fittings

Eccentric Reducers

Leave us a message

Description

Eccentric Reducers are a type of pipe fitting with a conical shape, featuring different inlet and outlet diameters that are asymmetrical. One side of the reducer maintains a constant size, while the other side tapers down to the desired size. This creates a smooth transition from a larger pipe to a smaller one, keeping the centerline of the pipe either lower or higher than the centerline of the larger pipe, depending on the reducer’s orientation.

Applications

  • Fluid and Gas Handling Systems: Eccentric Reducers are commonly used in systems handling water, oil, gas, and chemicals to transition between different pipe sizes.
  • Oil and Gas Pipelines: They help ensure smooth flow and minimize cavitation.
  • Petrochemical and Chemical Industries: Used to control flow rate and pressure during operations.
  • HVAC Systems: Employed in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to adjust airflow.

Standard Specification

ASME B16.9: This standard specifies the dimensions, tolerances, design, testing, and marking of welded and seamless steel pipe fittings.

Technical Specifications according to ASME B16.9:

  • Sizes: Ranges from 1/2 inch to 48 inches.
  • Materials: Stainless steel, carbon steel, alloy steel, and other materials suitable for specific environments.
  • Pressure: Suitable for systems with low to high pressure.
  • Welding: Designed to be welded to pipes and other fittings.
  • Tolerances: Conforms to dimensional tolerances specified in ASME B16.9 to ensure compatibility and safety.
