Description

Pipe Caps are a type of pipe fitting used to close the end of a pipe, preventing liquids or gases from escaping the pipe. They are commonly used in water, oil, gas, and chemical piping systems.

Applications

Pipe caps are widely used in various industries:

  • Oil and Gas Industry: Used in crude oil, natural gas, and petroleum product pipelines.
  • Chemical Industry: Used to seal chemical pipelines in production and processing plants.
  • Water and Wastewater Industry: Used in clean water supply and wastewater treatment systems.
  • Food and Beverage Industry: Used to seal pipelines carrying food and beverages, ensuring food safety and hygiene.
  • HVAC Systems (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning): Used to block air flow in air conditioning systems.

Standards

ASME B16.9: This is the standard of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for welded pipe fittings. Pipe caps made to this standard must meet specific requirements for dimensions, materials, and pressure ratings.

  • Material: Carbon steel, stainless steel, copper alloy, aluminum, plastic.
  • Size: Suitable for pipe diameters from DN15 (1/2″) to DN1200 (48″).
  • Connection Type: Welded, threaded, or flanged.
  • Working Pressure: Depending on the material and manufacturing standards, it can range from 150 psi to 2500 psi or higher.
