Description

Straight Tee is a type of pipe fitting used to connect three sections of pipe together. It has a T-shape with a main pipe and two branches on both sides forming a 90-degree angle to the main pipe. The Straight Tee allows branching of flow in the piping system.

Applications

Straight Tee is widely used in various industries such as:

  • Oil and Gas: In oil and gas pipelines, straight tees help branch the flow to different areas.
  • Chemical: In chemical plants, straight tees are used to distribute liquids or gases to different tanks or equipment.
  • Water Supply and Drainage: Used in drinking water supply, wastewater, and rainwater systems to divide or merge flow.
  • Food Industry: Used to transport liquid or gas products during production and processing of food.

Standards

Straight Tee usually adheres to international standards to ensure quality and safety. One of the common standards is ASME B16.9. The ASME B16.9 standard specifies dimensions, tolerances, materials, and technical requirements for seamless wrought steel pipe fittings.

Main technical requirements of ASME B16.9:

  • Dimensions: Specifies nominal sizes (NPS), outer diameters (OD), and lengths of the parts of the tee.
  • Materials: Typically carbon steel, stainless steel, or other alloys.
  • Tolerances: Limits on dimensions, shape, and wall thickness.
  • Inspection and Testing: Requirements for non-destructive testing, pressure testing, and other quality control methods.
