Description

Threaded Street Elbow is a type of pipe fitting with a threaded end, allowing the connection of different pipes or fittings at a certain angle (usually 90 degrees). One end of the fitting has a male thread and the other end has a female thread. This is a common fitting in the piping system, allowing for efficient and convenient flow diversion.

Applications

  • Plumbing: Used in household and industrial plumbing systems to redirect water flow.
  • Air conduction system: Applied in compressed air or gas systems.
  • HVAC System: Used in heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
  • Chemical Industry: Used in chemical manufacturing and transportation processes.
  • Oil and Gas: Applied in oil and gas pipeline systems.

Standards

ASME B16.11 is a standard issued by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, which specifies the technical requirements for threaded and welded pipe fittings for piping systems. This standard includes fittings such as Elbows, Tees, Couplings, Caps and other fittings.

  • Manufacturing materials: ASME B16.11 standard fittings are usually manufactured from carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel and other similar materials that meet the requirements for strength and heat and pressure resistance.
  • Dimensions and tolerances: The standard specifies the nominal dimensions and tolerances of fittings. These dimensions include outside diameter, inside diameter, wall thickness and length of threaded sections.
  • Working Pressure: ASME B16.11 fittings shall have a minimum working pressure rating of 2000 psi for thread type 2000, 3000 psi for thread type 3000, and 6000 psi for thread type 6000, depending on the material and specific size.

Note:

For sizes greater than 4 inches, other standards should be consulted and other connection methods appropriate to the specific pressure and application should be used. These standards include:

  • ASME B16.9: Standard for Butt Weld Fittings.
  • ASME B16.5: Standard for Flanges and Flange Fittings.
  • ASME B16.25: Standard for Butt-weld Pipe Fittings.
